Top 11 Stories I Want to Write in 2009: My Big Adventure (with Pee-Wee!)
3. My Big Adventure (With Pee-Wee)
I got the word from a little birdie that Paul Reubens, the actor who became popular in the late ‘80s as Pee-Wee Herman, will be returning to his hometown of Sarasota for a bit. I’m going to see if I can pull some strings to get a tour of the Sarasota he grew up in. I will have to work on playing it cool, though — I’m kind of a fan.

Top 11 Stories I Want to Write in 2009: The Tooth of the Matter
2. The Tooth of the Matter
I had the amazing opportunity to do some serious scuba diving during my recent four-month trip to Australia. I’ve been hearing a lot about diving for shark’s teeth off the coast of Venice. Top 11 Stories I Want to Write in 2009: The Dirt on MURT
Dec. 20, 2008
As a newly anointed Sarasotan I feel an obligation to investigate the city through the eyes of an outsider. This place has a rich history, an amazing arts scene, a dynamic citizenry and some totally kick-ass rec activities. I’ve never been one to pass up an opportunity to try something new, or to try something old in a new place. These are some of the stories I’m dying to bring you in 2009.
1. The Dirt on MURT
Running along the Bayfront Multi-use Recreation Trail, or the MURT, is quite nice from its starting point at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens on up Bayfront Drive to the Ritz-Carlton. However, somewhere after the two mile mark it starts to get a bit confusing. Eventually, the city’s goal is to connect the MURT with the Crosley/Caples Baywalk in Manatee County. I would start with getting it to Ringling College. So, how’s the progress on that project going?
